Ferrara Pan

Chicago is known for a lot of great things: Wrigley Field, Michael Jordan, Oprah, the 85 Bears just to name of few. But one would be remiss if when speaking about great things in Chicago if one did not mention the great Ferrara Pan Candy Company! Ferrara Pan is solely responsible for a number of our favorite candies including Atomic Fireballs, Jaw Buster Jawbreakers, Grapeheads and everyone’s favorite: Lemonheads.

Ferrara Pan was founded in Chicago in 1908, the same year the Chicago Cubs won it all! Although the Cubs haven’t gotten much better over the last 100 years, Ferrara Pan Candy Co sure has. Beyond the favorites mentioned above, Ferrara Pan also produces Appleheads, Cherryheads, Red Hots, chocolates, caramels and more. Unfortunately for us all, Ferrara Pan discontinued production of Orangeheads in 2012.

So what does the “pan” in Ferrara Pan mean? Panning is the method in which the candy is created. Panned candy is constructed from one element (such as grains of sugar or nuts), and that element is tossed around in revolving pans where additional ingredients are added. Finally a beautiful round piece of candy is produced. Sounds simple enough, but we’re sure if it was that simple everybody would have equally delicious panned candy!

We sell all Ferrara Pan candy by the pound. For the unwrapped Lemonheads, Orangeheads, Appleheads and Grapeheads candy, 2 pounds equates to approximately 4 cups of candy. For the wrapped Lemonheads and Jaw Buster Jawbreakers, there are approximately 45 pcs of candy per pound. Also, don’t forget, we offer $6.99 flat rate shipping on all orders $15 or more.
