Orange
Orange candy is how I met my beautiful husband, the love of my life. When I was in college, all my friends knew that I loved orange candy and they would always save some for me – Orange Tootsie Pops, Orange Jelly Belly beans, Orange Skittles, and more. It was a running joke all through school that I would go crazy if I didn’t have my daily dose of orange candy.Anyway, one year we all decided to head down to Daytona Beach for spring break. We were all looking forward to it, that semester was a killer. The trip was about an 8 hour drive and there was more than 20 of us so we had a whole caravan of cars. It was a party on wheels! We all left at 8am Monday morning determined to get there in time to party that night!
Half way there, we took a restroom break in Orlando. I decided to go get my fix of orange candy at the local candy store. There was so much orange candy: Orange M&M’s, Orange Slices, Orange Starburst and so much more that I couldn’t make up my mind! The choices were so overwhelming! By the time I looked up, all the cars were pulling out and on their way to Daytona…leaving me behind!
Panicked, I ran out of the store chasing after them with my orange candy in tow. There was one car left and I was able to flag him down with my bag. Fortunately, he stopped and I explained to him that my ride had left me behind. He invited me to ride with him, but with a wink and a nod he said I could only ride under one condition – that I share some of that delicious orange candy with him.
At first I hesitated but I soon accepted, figuring I could get in my original car at the next stop. Well, let’s just say that at the next stop I didn’t feel like getting out to find my initial ride. I had found true love and as we shared my Orange Splash Original Gourmet Pops and Orange Crème Taffy, my heart raced as we talked, laughed and shared our innermost thoughts and dreams. I had met my soul mate. The ride from Orlando to Daytona Beach was a ride I’ll never forget.
