Orange Candy
Orange candy is how I met my lovely wife, the love of my life. When I was in college, all my friends knew that I loved nothing more than orange candy and they would always save it for me – Orange M&M’s, Orange Tootsie Pops, Orange Skittles, Orange Jelly Belly beans and more. It was a running joke all throughout college that I would go crazy if I didn’t have my daily supply of orange candy. One year for spring break, we all decided to head down to South Beach to have big fun. The trip was about a seven hour drive and there was like 25 of us so we had a whole caravan of cars. It was a spring break party on wheels. We all left at 9am Monday morning determined to get to the beach and the strip in time to party that night!
Half way there, we took a restroom break in Orlando and I decided to go get my fix of orange candy at the local candy store. There was so much orange candy: Orange Dum Dums, Orange Taffy, Orange Slices, Orange Starburst and so much more - the choices were so overwhelming! I simply couldn’t make up my mind! By the time I looked up, all the cars were pulling out and on their way to Miami …leaving me behind!
I ran out of the candy store panicked with my bag full of orange candy chasing after them. There was one car left in the caravan that I was able to flag him down with my bag. Fortunately, she stopped and I explained to her that my ride had left me behind. She was a sweetheart and invited me to ride with her, but only under one condition – that I share some of my delicious orange candy with her!
I hesitated for a second but I soon accepted, figuring I could get back in my original car at the next stop. Well, let’s just say at the next stop I didn’t feel like getting out to find my initial ride. I had found true love, and as we shared my Orange Creamsicle Original Gourmet Pops and Orange Crème Taffy, my heart raced as we talked, laughed and shared our innermost thoughts and dreams. I had met my soul mate. That ride from Orlando to Miami was a ride I’ll never forget, thank goodness for Orange Candy.
